Corporate groups

While FareShare has a stable of regular, individual volunteers, we also have groups of staff from large companies who come in for a day – NAB, Fonterra, Heinz, Lend Lease, GlaxoSmithKline, ANZ, Medicare, Hamton. This corporate volunteer program involves our professional coordination of groups of volunteers, together with induction and training.

Staff volunteering is becoming increasingly popular with companies through the community programs of many businesses, and we are in high demand in this area.

Volunteering with FareShare provides many of these corporate employees with real insight into food wastage, food security and the role of community organisations.

The feedback from our corporate volunteer groups has been glowing – they keenly value the insight they gain into the nature of food relief, the cooking skills they pick up and the camaraderie and bonding they experience with their colleagues.

Many corporate volunteers have gone on to become regular volunteers with us or other community organisations.

"Each year a team of ExxonMobil employees has helped FareShare to cook meals for distribution free of charge to people in need.  The experience has given our employees the opportunity to help those less fortunate and they have gained a valuable insight into how the welfare sector operates.

I have volunteered at FareShare and enjoyed working in the kitchen making pies.  The most rewarding aspect of volunteering at FareShare is that cooking and helping with food deliveries provides immediate and tangible support to families and individuals who need assistance."
